Stress Awareness Month - ELT

Do you know that April is a month of stress awareness? As a young adult, to deal with the underlying issues of unhappiness and anxiety, below are a number of ‘tools’ to keep in your  ‘kit bag’ to help you live with anxiety and clinical depression:

  1. Start to talk to people about how you feel. And they MUST listen.
  2. Begin to go to weight management classes and find a very supportive group.
  3. Eat foods to give you energy –  eat for comfort even though it maks you feel uncomfortable!
  4. Engage with counselling and continue to dip in and out when you begin to feel overwhelmed.
  5. Keep a reflective diary. By doing so you will pick up on the warning signs of when anxiety is creeping up on you.
  6. Exercise – a gentle cycle or walk is a way for you to find peace within.
  7. Set realistic expectations of yourself. If you don’t meet them, you have to reset them!
  8. Take prescribed medication and have a supportive doctor.
  9. Surround yourself with positive people, those that drain your energy are kept at arm’s length and don’t take up too much of your time.

Take care of yourself:)
