ELT Students Visited Rona School

visiting schools is one of the most common things the department does every year because it is part of its mission. On November 28th, 2022, ELT UG2 students and the HOD visited Rona High School. The students' engaging presentations on many academic subjects made the visit productive and creative.   A brief talk about the faculty and the university was given by Miss Bekhal B K (HOD). She gave her first impression of the school this way: "We were impressed by the warm hospitality of the faculty members, especially Mr Ramadhan, the assistant teacher; the school on the outside and inside looked very clean and up to date. The classroom management was very systematic, which is very great!

Visiting a Retirement Home with ELT Students

We should value all ages in our community, from the very young to the very old. But the oldest people in the retirement home and assisted living facilities often feel isolated and excluded.  Developing stronger connections between these elderly and our students can have tremendous benefits for both sides. A single visit to a retirement home is a valuable experience for our students and will brighten the day for the elderly.  Today,  November 20th 2022, our UG3 students with the HOD, Miss Bekhal B K, had their first-time visit to the retirement home as it was their major community service project that they wanted to do this semester.  They took some useful gifts and distributed them among the elderly.

An Impressive Talk on Brighten Your Future by Mr Omer Faqi

The College of Education invited Mr. Omer Muhammed Faqi to give an interactive talk on Brighten Your Future: Making the Most of Students' Time While Studying at university for our students in the entire university.  Mr Faqi chose the title himself because it seems that students' time at university is one of the most important issues that university students cannot deal with while they are doing their BA or BS degree.

A Visit to an Orphanage

Doing social work is one of our students' favourite hobbies.  Usually, our juniors come up with innovative and humanitarian ideas.  Today's visit to Erbil Orphanage was a heartbreaking and fantastic experience at the same time for them as it was their first time having such a pleasant experience.  We took gifts with us and distributed them among children in the orphanage of ages 5-6.  The children were from different districts in Erbil city.  Not everyone's parents were dead.  Some children have parents, but they are divorced and the single parent just could not raise them and ended up leaving there.   I would like to thank my juniors as it felt absolutely amazing to be able to bring happiness on those innocent faces! Little help from our students meant very much to them and their priceless reactions were essential to us.
